Caring for Patients and Families

Spiritual Care Services provides:

  • Prayer
  • Guided meditation and relaxation for relief from emotional and physical pain
  • Support groups
  • Support with grief, loss, and bereavement for patients and family members
  • Religious rituals or sacraments
  • Pastoral support in times of stress
  • Contact and coordination with the patient’s home congregation and spiritual leaders
  • Lifecycle events including:
    • Memorial services/times of remembrance
    • Weddings/commitment ceremonies
    • Baptisms
    • Blessings and welcoming rituals for new babies

Seven Steps to Self-Care

Tip #1: Stay nourished and hydrated. If you are feeling irritated or exhausted part of the reason might be because your body needs fuel. Make sure you’re drinking water regularly and eating healthy snacks whenever you can.
